Thanksgiving - 2014
November 27th

Veterans Day (U.S.)
This day marks the World War I cease-fire in 1918.
Originally Armistice Day, commemorating the signing of the agreement
that ended World War I at 11:00 A.M., November 11, 1918, this federal
holiday was changed to Veterans Day in 1954. At this time, it became a
day to honor all of the men and women who have served in the armed
forces of the United States.
In Canada, this day is celebrated as Remembrance Day, a time to honor
veterans who have died in service to their country.
Of course, this year also marks the 100th anniversary of the start
of
World War I, and there have been many special ceremonies across the
world to mark the occasion. We honor our vets today and every day.
Consider spending some time online learning more about Veterans Day

Abraham Lincoln: “The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have
consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will
little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget
what they did here.”

Ronald Reagan: “We remember those who were called upon to give all a
person can give, and we remember those who were prepared to make that
sacrifice if it were demanded of them in the line of duty, though it never
was. Most of all, we remember the devotion and gallantry with which all of
them ennobled their nation as they became champions of a noble cause.”

John F. Kennedy: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the
highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

And he said, "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God,
my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation,
my
stronghold and my refuge; My savior, Thou dost save me from violence. I call
